During his time at KU, Joey served as Vice President, President, and Fund Development Coordinator for KU Habitat for Humanity, was a member of Theta Tau, and a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. He helped found the Crunchy Chicken Challenge in September of 2009 as a Junior. He also interned for Paric Corporation (construction) in St. Louis in 2009, Bick Group (mission critical facility design) in St. Louis in 2010, and Henderson Engineers (fire protection design) in Kansas City in 2011.
Joey enjoys following college football, basketball, and his hometown St. Louis teams. In addition to spending time with friends and family, he enjoys playing softball, tennis, golfing, and sleeping at an early hour. He proposed to his longtime sweetheart Alyssa in October of 2011, and wedded on June 23rd, 2012. Along with their labradoodle Scout, Alyssa and Joey have bought a home and live in Westwood, Kansas.
Joey works with Fire Dynamics, a division of Henderson Engineers in Lenexa, Kansas. There he works in fire alarm and suppression systems design. He also completed a Master's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering through the University of Maryland distance program in May of 2013. Joey is a member of the Missouri-Kansas Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and on the Architectural Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Kansas.

While at KU, Carol was involved with Engineers Without Borders, including a trip to Azacilo, Bolivia to build composting toilets in a small village in the Andes in 2009. For two years, she led free yoga classes each week as the President of Yoga Club. As Vice President of the Rock Climbing Club, Carol was able to share her passion for the outdoors while problem solving and managing the logistics of a 60-member organization. Still involved with her local scout crew, Carol attended meetings and events to teach about rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, and other outdoor pursuits. When not on an official club trip, Carol ventured into the backcountry with friends to places like Big Bend, TX; Death Valley, CA; Ruby Mountains, NV; and the Colorado Plateau.
Continuing her collegiate interests, Carol still enjoys weightlifting, yoga, rock climbing, and backpacking. Sometimes, her dog Daisy even gets to tag along!
Carol's currently employed by the City of Lawrence as an Engineering Technician with her time split equally between the Stormwater Division, GIS, and Inspection.

During her time at KU, Markie was a member of Chi Omega sorority and served as philanthropy chair. Through this position, she was able to help develop an annual philanthropy event, Wings For a Wish, that now raises over $14,000 a year for The Make A Wish Foundation. Within the School of Engineering, she worked in the biomechanics research lab assisting in the development of an
adolescent spinal model. Markie also served as the Microsoft Student Partner marketing representative for the University of Kansas.
Markie loves spending time obsessing over collegiate football, particularly the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She enjoys running, yoga, reading, wakeboarding, snowboarding and trying new restaurants and outdoor activities. Exploring her new state of Minnesota has been an exciting adventure and she keeps finding more reasons to love the Twin Cities every day. She loves staying busy but values her family and friends above everything.

She spends most of her work time in the operating room assisting surgeons and technicians with total joint replacement surgery. From Washington, Missouri Champion Technologies Refinery Technical Advisor Lives in Houston, Texas Kathleen graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2011 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. During her time at KU, Kathleen served as the social chair of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, participated in Engineering Student Council, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She also volunteered with Engineers Without Borders in rebuilding efforts in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. In the summer of 2008, Kathleen conducted research on protein dynamics at the University of Akron. In 2009, she spent two months working on a biosensor project at CIQA in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. Then in 2010, she interned with Schlumberger Wireline in Elk City, Oklahoma. Kathleen's hobbies include traveling, scrapbooking, swimming, and water skiing. |
