While at KU, Kara lived in Margaret Amini Scholarship Hall where she served as Historian and Vice President. She was also involved as a KU Engineering Ambassador and as a bible study leader and member of The Navigators, a Christian ministry on campus. During her time at KU, Kara had the opportunity to work in her hometown during the summer of 2010 as an undergraduate researcher in the Earth Wind & Fire REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) hosted by Kansas State University. During the summer of 2011, Kara worked in California as a reservoir engineering intern with Occidental Oil & Gas.
Kara enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, reading, playing sand volleyball, and attempting craft projects. She enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and improving her skills in photography and ceramics.
Currently, Kara is finishing her Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kansas. She will graduate in May of 2012 and will begin working full time with Black & Veatch starting in July of 2012. Kara will be working as an Energy Technology Consultant, specifically focusing on power generation technologies.
